True Confidence does not come from believing in yourself or following your heart. True Confidence comes from knowing the Lord, knowing who you are in Him and trusting that He will work out everything for our good according to His will. When we truly believe this, then we can have peace that we can't find anywhere else, then we can have joy even in the bad times because we have Hope in Him, then we can truly rest and place everything in His hands. The Lord is good and faithful.
